Meet Carl Futenma, DDS
Dr. Futenma was born and raised on the island of Kauai. Upon graduation from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, he taught seventh grade Science and Health. After 6 months of teaching, he decided to follow his passion and attend dental school. In 1994, Dr. Futenma graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry, and was accepted into a General Dentistry Residency by the United States Air Force where he served for three years. He then practiced for a year on Kauai before moving to Portland, Oregon. In 1999, Dr. Futenma began practicing here in Vancouver upon the retirement of Dr. Larry Gervais. He has over 20 years of experience in the dentistry field.
Dr. Futenma believes it is important to stay up to date with the latest techniques and technologies in the field of dentistry in order to provide unparalleled care for his patients. Therefore, he has taken numerous continuing education classes, and plans to attend more each year in the future.
In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his fiancé Roxane, dog Maile, and newest edition to his family, his son Reece. When he is not at home or at a dental class he likes to attend Karate classes in downtown Vancouver.
